Bequests

What will you leave behind?

There is no quick fix to stop child abuse, but there is something significant you can do to prevent future generations from ever knowing the pain it causes.

By leaving a bequest to ACT for Kids, you will give us the best gift of all – the ability to keep saving more and more children from violence and emotional pain, no matter what the future brings. A donation to the foundation gives forever, because we use only the interest it earns, not the capital.

Types of bequests and legal wording

Residual bequest - after you have made provisions for your family and other beneficiaries, the remainder of your estate is distributed to your chosen charities as per your instructions.

Specific or pecuniary bequest - you may wish to nominate a specific amount or bequest specific items to be allocated to your beneficiaries, such as property, stocks and shares, a life insurance policy or jewellery, etc.

Whole of estate bequest - you may wish to leave your whole estate to one beneficiary.

Percentage bequest - this is simply defined by leaving a percentage or a fraction of your estate to your beneficiaries.

What a generous gesture and gracious legacy to leave behind!

Three ways to include us in your estate:

  1. To have a confidential no-obligation discussion about including us in your estate, or to request our bequest booklet, please call Kerry Cutting on (07) 3857 8866.
  2. Simply include the following passage in your will:

"I GIVE, free of all duties and charges, the sum of [... insert amount in words and numbers...] to ACT for Kids of 4/14 Merivale Street, South Brisbane, Queensland, for its general purposes absolutely. I declare a general charitable intention.”

    OR

“I GIVE a [... insert quantum of share or percentage, for example one half share or 50%...] of my residuary estate UPON TRUST for ACT for Kids of 4/14 Merivale Street, South Brisbane, Queensland, for its general purposes absolutely. I declare a general charitable intention.”

  3. Make a bequest through the Public Trustee. ACT for Kids has established a charitable fund with the Queensland Community Foundation – a public charitable trust managed by the Public Trustee. You can make a bequest or gift to us through the Queensland Community Foundation.
